Panorama Landscapes I forgot about portfolioLooking for a long landscape photo for your wall. Heres a selection of Nevada and eastern sierra Landscapes that are composed of multiple shots stiched together. The resulting files can be printed big enough to cover a long space on your wall. It depends on the image, but 6-8 feet is realistic for most of these prints.

Bonefishing in Christmas Island portfolioSome photos to share with my fishing friends. Tillie and I ventured to Kiribati(known as Christmas Island for the second year in a row. We caught a variety of fish, large and small, from groupers to 6 foot Mako sharks. Warning- its like eating Pringles,-you can't stop at one. We are booked again for next year.

The Great Basin World in HDR portfolioPhotography and cameras are changing fast in our electronic world. A new photo technique called HDR (High Dynamic Range photography) now allows us to show images as our minds eyes see them. This porfolio will track my journey with HDR photography. Some of you will like the images and some "pure" photographers will hate them. HDR is here to stay and as Trey Ratcliff says, 70% of humans see the world in a way similar to HDR.

HIgh Times in the Desatoyas portfolioIts mid-July and there are still snow banks at the upper elevations of the Desatoya Mts. The cows haven't hit the streamside wildflowers and everything is green and in bloom. What a year!

Latest Images from Pyramid Lake portfolioIn February of this year, I had the great fortune of being hired by the Pyramid Lake Fisheries as their Fisheries Biologist. Though this has kept me very busy I have had some moments where the light was special. Here's some of my favorite shots from the last couple months.

Pyramid Lake Cutthroat portfolioEach spring, begining in mid-March the cutthroat trout planted as 4 inch fingerling, return to the Spawning Channel at the Lake Operations Hatchery. These fish can vary in age from 5 years to 11 years old. They are free to come and go, but most males seem to remain for the chance to spawn. These photos taken toward the end of the spawn seem to capture the haunting feeling of the fish who choose to remain.

The Middlegate Shoe Tree-Then and Down portfolioIts been a couple weeks since some vandals took a chainsaw and expertly cut the tree down ending the traditional stop at the shoe tree to marvel at the myriad of different kind of shoes. Heres a look at the tree, then and now.

Reno Vets Administration Box Framed Prints portfolioHeres a viewing of a series of photos I delivered to the new Reno VA Center on McCarran and Mill St. All the pics were not up at the time of shooting, but there were 37 photos total that were used to provide a restful decor for the office.

2010 Calendar Selections portfolioHeres a close up view of the 2009 Calendar selections by month. The Calendar is named: Great Basin Landscapes as three of the photos was taken in CA. Lion Dogs of No-tell-um Canyon portfolioIn the last week of 2009, I spent a few days with my Son-in-Law and 4 other houndsmens looking for mountain lions south of Hawthorne,NV. The photos in this portfolio were taken one morning when the storm broke and we put the dogs onto two set of lion tracks. Being with lion hunters is a special experience. They love their dogs, spent new years eve with them and caught up with a good lion in the Monitors. I wasn't there and am hoping to get a pic of the trophy to post.

Summertime in Hope Valley portfolioWhile the sun is baking us down in the Valleys with 100 degree heat, there is still snow up at 8500 feet in the Sierras. Everything is at peak bloom in the Sierra alpine zone. Though the fishing was disappointing at Red Lake this weekend, every small creek in the valley is chock full of little brookies that are a blast to catch. The panoramas in this portfolio are composite images that can be printed up to 40 inches wide.

The road to Hinkey Summit portfolioThis is a place I have returned to many times to capture the epic mega-bloom of Wyethia on the lower terraces of Hinkey Summit. There are always images to be captured. This year the blooms were a full month late and not of the magnitude of the shots I captured in 2006. Still it was a worthwhile trip, wandering through the aspens with my long time friend, Ed Partee, who now oversees the game programs for NDOW for Humboldt County. We will be back next spring to do it again.

Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake
The two jewels that lie at the top and bottom of the Truckee River Watershed (Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake) are argueably the best scenic waters in the World. Those of us who get to live and play here are indeed fortunate.

Truckee River After the snow portfolioJust returned from a 3 day visit to a cabin near Tahoe City. Had a great shoot on the river below Tahoe City. The water was just a trickle allowing me to actually cross the river on my snowshoes. Come along with me on a snowshoe hike down to river and discover what I saw. One of these shots will be my calendar shot for next year. Whats your favorite?

2010 Pony Express Reride portfolioThis is the 150 year centennial of the 1860 Pony Express, celebrated by a reride from west to east. Lots of folks want to see thise pics so theres a bunch of them. Pony Express Reride 2009 portfolioRiders in red shirts are sworn in, given a pocket bible and ride over the historic Pony Express Trail. This year I photographed the riders as they made their way across Churchill County from Basque Summit in the Desatoyas to Sand Mt. Ely Nevada on the Fourth of July portfolioEly, Nevada is a USA microcosm, a town that stands alone, isolated from the outside world. It was the ultimate melting pot for european immigrants looking for a new life and a promise of prosperity with the workings of a copper mine. The town withered when the mine went away and by determination hangs on today. It returns to its former glory briefly every Fourth of July, when those who still remember COME HOME.

Eagle Wings Indian Pagaent Dancers portfolioThis wonderful troupe of dancers performed at the 2010 Cantaloupe Festival on September 5. If you know of any of the dancers, I need contact information so I can share these pics with them. They were lead by one of the Hicks from Schurz. I find there reverence for the different dances verry inspirational.
